To ask the Minister of Education, pursuant to AQW 3196/22-27, (i) whether her officials are considering legislating for a price cap on school uniforms; and (ii) to outline the rationale for this position.

Answer:

In August I instructed officials to identify an approach that will seek to ensure, on a statutory basis, that schools are required to make their uniforms more affordable for families. This process includes consideration of a maximum price on the cost of uniforms alongside a range of approaches that could be used to make uniforms more affordable.
