Question:
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs whether he will make an assessment of the impact that excluding glass from the scope of the forthcoming Deposit Return Scheme for drinks containers will have on recycling rates.

Answer:

I refer the member to the response to AQW 1045/22-27.

Officials are currently finalising the Government response and impact assessment for the 2021 consultation on a Deposit Return Scheme, for publication alongside Defra and Welsh Government. The impact assessment to the 2021 consultation included a review of the inclusion / exclusion of glass. I will keep the exclusion of glass from DRS under review to ensure glass containers are meeting the required recycling targets.
