Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities (i) when an applicant is informed of their Personal Independence Payment entitlement amount, is it described as an offer or entitlement; and (ii) for her assessment of whether describing it as an offer could be misleading to applicants.

Answer:
(i)The notification issued to applicants refers to an award of Personal Independence Payment and does not make reference to an offer. The notification confirms whether the applicant will receive the benefit, specifies the components and rate payable, the duration of the award and the total number of points scored.
(ii)The information provided, therefore, is not misleading.
