Question: To ask the Minister of Health what action he is taking to ensure that Long Covid patients in Northern Ireland can get tested for blood microclots, as is the case for patients in England.
Answer:
There is, as yet, no published peer-reviewed evidence that removal of microclots is an effective treatment for patients who have Long Covid. Testing and treatment for microclots remains experimental. If the evidence base were to change, and these are recommended by NICE as being effective, consideration would be given as to their availability in NI.
