Question: To ask the Minister of Health what funding will be made available for transitional mental health services for those aged 18 to 25.
Answer:
Action 13 of the Mental Health Strategy 2021-2031 commits to the development of proposals for transitions between Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Adult Mental Health Services. A paper outlining recommendations for reviewing the current transitions process in mental health services was completed in 2021. Since then, there have been a number of more recent developments, including progress to establish a new Regional Mental Health Service, the Review of Children’s Services and the Gender Identity review, all of which will likely impact on the recommendations for future transition arrangements. Work on the development of a co-designed Mental Health Strategy Delivery Plan for 2024 – 2025 is currently underway. Delivery of Action 13 will be considered in the context of this work, as well as the availability of additional funding to support implementation of the Mental Health Strategy.
