To ask the Minister for Communities for a timescale on the revitalisation of Grey Point Fort, Helen’s Bay.

Answer:

Our plans to revitalise the Fort are currently on hold due to my Department’s significantly constrained ability, in light of budgetary pressures, to invest in our State Care Monuments.

A site conservation management plan has been completed and included feedback from a public consultation forum in 2022. A feasibility study will be the next step to inform the future development of the site - which will include an assessment of potential operating models.

I appreciate the closure of Grey Point Fort has been disappointing for many in the local community. At this time, I can only assure you of our commitment to progress planning for the fort once funding becomes available.
