Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities for an update on the redevelopment of Newtownards library.

Answer:

Libraries NI continues to work in partnership with Ards and North Down Borough Council to progress plans for a replacement library facility in Newtownards. A business case supporting the proposed redevelopment of the library on its present site is currently being considered by my Department. I am informed that, in parallel, Ards and North Down Borough Council will develop their own proposals for the development of the remainder of the shared site. Any decision to proceed with a new library facility will be dependent on prioritising of capital investment in a very tight budgetary situation.
