Question: To ask the Minister of Health whether it is possible for a patient to opt-out of the digitalisation of their medical records.
Answer:
Information has been held in digital medical records for many years, Clinicians require this information to provide all patients and service users with safe and appropriate care. In very rare circumstances restrictions on access to selected parts of a record have been implemented. Information held on HSC computer systems is used for direct patient care only and any other use, such as research and development, requires additional patient consent.
