Question:
To ask the Minister of Health what public health programmes and policies he will initiate to help people protect themselves from developing cancer.

Answer:

My Department leads on a number of strategies that are designed to help improve population health and wellbeing through encouraging people to live healthier lives and reduce the prevalence of cancer risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol consumption, obesity, nutrition and lack of physical activity, and ultraviolet radiation exposure.

These strategies are implemented by the Public Health Agency through a number of supporting policies, public information campaigns, community pharmacies, as well as online resources and other specific services such as specialist stop smoking services.
