Question:
To ask the Minister of Health how his Department plans to engage with (i) people affected by stroke; (ii) people delivering stroke care; and (iii) the general public to co-produce a future model of stroke services.

Answer:
In order to support the identification of a preferred option for Hyperacute Stroke Care, a new process has been agreed by the Hyperacute Stroke Project Board set up to oversee this work. This first stage of this process requires the commissioning of analysis which will update and extend prior analysis undertaken in 2018. This will include consideration of stroke pathways, updated stroke activity levels including projections arising from demographic changes and an assessment of improved outcomes.
Work is currently underway on a communication and engagement plan to ensure stakeholder involvement in the process. The engagement will extend to people affected by stroke, the stroke workforce and the wider public. This work will be reviewed by the Project Board when it next meets in March 2024. It is intended that stakeholders will be updated following that meeting.
