Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy, in light of the increasing cost of household goods, to detail any correspondence he has had, or plans to have, with large supermarkets and retailers, with a view to ensuring consumers get the best possible prices to help ease pressures during the current cost of living crisis.

Answer:
My Department’s Trading Standards Service has been focusing its enforcement efforts on price transparency and ensuring consumers get what they pay for, especially on essential items.
The Consumer Council, a Partner Organisation of my Department, engages with key stakeholders and representative bodies and shares its research and insights relating to the impact of rising food prices for consumers.
