To ask the Minister of Education how he will facilitate a more joined-up approach between the Department and community childcare providers.

Answer:

My answers to your questions [AQW 6263/22-27, AQW 5437/22-27, AQW 5566/22-27 and AQW 5869/22-27] detail the current position on the development of the Early Learning and Childcare Strategy, including recent and planned engagement with childcare providers. My officials are considering what approach would best support the next phase of the work, which is likely to require more focused, thematic, co-design activity. Input from community childcare providers will be essential.

My Department already works in close partnership with many community and voluntary early years groups to deliver core Department of Education funded programmes including the Pathway Fund and the Pre-school Education Programme.
