Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether he will consider introducing subject-specific Continuing Professional Development for primary school teachers.


Answer:
Professional development for the whole teaching workforce in Northern Ireland is progressed through my Department’s strategy for Teacher Professional Learning (TPL), “Learning Leaders”.
Our TPL delivery partner, the Education Authority (EA), provides a range of Professional Learning Programmes (aligned to the Learning Leaders Strategy). The EA works with partnerships of primary schools to identify common areas of need and supports primary schools availing of professional learning opportunities within the existing resource constraints.
