To ask the Minister of Health what work is ongoing to deliver improved and faster diagnosis of motor neurone disease.

Answer:

My department is leading on the Regional Review of Neurology Services which is tasked with identifying the optimum configuration of neurology services for the next 10-15 years. Several workstreams have been established in priority areas including workforce, long term and complex conditions and care coordination and are aimed at improving access.

The Review is tasked with identifying the optimum configuration of neurology services for the next 10-15 years. The work of the Review is being taken forward through workstreams in a number of priority areas some of which will have an impact on the development of MND services.

It is anticipated that the Final Report of the Review will be completed in May 2024.
