Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities what financial assistance his Department has made available to football clubs impacted by flooding.

Answer:

At this time, neither my Department, nor Sport NI, an arm’s length body of my Department, have any funding opportunities available to help football or other sports clubs who have been impacted by flooding.

Officials from my Department and Sport NI have met with the sports sector to hear at first hand the impact of recent flooding on sports clubs and facilities. I am also aware that Sport NI issued a survey to the sports sector to assess the impact of recent flooding on facilities. Sport NI intend to use the information collated to provide advice and signposting for the sports sector as part of a wider sustainability campaign.

I have asked that officials from my Department and Sport NI continue to engage with the sector to explore what further support and advice can be provided.
