To ask the Minister of Education to detail the number of children currently falling below the 85 per cent school attendance threshold.

Answer:

The most recent management information, drawn from the unvalidated data recorded by schools, covers the September 2023 to January 2024 period of the 2023/24 academic year and shows 42,967 (13%) of pupils with less than 85 per cent school attendance.
