Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to provide an update on the progress of Northern Ireland’s City and Growth Deals.

Answer:

The City and Growth Deals Programme will see over £1.3bn of public funding invested in the economic infrastructure of the North and will play an important role in delivering regional balance by enhancing sub-regional strengths and capabilities.

Positive progress has been made. Funding of more than £300m, across thirteen projects, has already been approved by my Department. However, I want to see delivery accelerated.

I have instructed officials to play a much greater role, through co-design and partnership working, to bring forward proposals that can be approved and delivered as soon as possible.
