Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail the spend by Tourism NI in North Belfast during this current financial year.


Answer:
Tourism NI (TNI) has undertaken spend in the North Belfast area in the current 2023-24 financial year, summarised as follows: -
International Tourism Events Fund 2023-24
Of the 11 applications received under the International Tourism Events Fund 2023-24, Tourism NI received two applications relating to events that would take place within the Belfast North constituency. Both applications progressed to Letter of Offer and received the following grant awards:
Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival£40,000
Belfast City Marathon (4 x Belfast constituencies)£50,000
Experience Development Programme 2021-23 capital funding scheme
A total of £8,945.29 has been spent in the North Belfast constituency, in the current 2023-24 financial year, towards a capital development tourism project at Crumlin Road Gaol through the TNI Experience Development Programme 2021-23. This remaining expenditure was part of an overall £450,000 capital grant administered by TNI to Crumlin Road Gaol, most of which was issued in the previous financial year.
Embrace a Giant Spirit Portfolio Development Programme 2021-23 capital funding scheme.
Four businesses from the constituency participate in the Embrace a Giant Spirit Portfolio programme and have access to a range of dedicated supports and training interventions to maximise their tourism potential, driving growth and productivity.
