To ask the Minister for Infrastructure (i) for his assessment of the introduction of a default speed limit on restricted roads in Wales from 30mph to 20mph; and (ii) what plans he has to introduce similar legislation.

Answer:

My Officials have discussed the change of the default speed limit on restricted roads in Wales from 30mph to 20mph with their counterparts from the Welsh Government. While there are currently no plans to do this here, it is something that I am keeping under review as I recognise that appropriate speed limits are part of the solution to improving road safety and I firmly believe that attitudes to speeding have to change.
