Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy whether he will introduce legislation to set up a renewable energy support scheme.

Answer:

My department is currently developing a support scheme for renewable electricity which we intend to introduce as soon as possible.

My officials are currently working on a scheme design to promote investment in larger scale renewable electricity projects, guarantee fair pricing for locally produced electricity, and encourage a diverse range of renewable sources for a secure energy supply.

The Primary and Subordinate legislation required is being carefully considered and will be introduced in due course.
