Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy, following the further support package of the Enhanced Flood Support Scheme, to detail the specific criteria under which (i) businesses with flood insurance are still eligible to apply; and (ii) businesses without insurance are eligible.

Answer:
Businesses with flood insurance are eligible to apply for the Enhanced Flood Support Scheme, subject to the following criteria:

At the time of the flooding, the business held business insurance (that covers contents/fixtures & fitting etc.) which included flood damage, but the insurance company has subsequently refused to pay out on some or all of the flood damage. Where insurance claims have not yet been resolved/finalised, applications will be put on hold until the outcome is known.
It will be the applicant’s responsibility to demonstrate eligibility for the Enhanced Flood Support Scheme. The following supporting evidence should be provided to demonstrate eligibility:
Where available, evidence that the business sought, but was not able to obtain insurance cover for flooding for their premises. In the absence of supporting evidence, an explanation as to why flood insurance was not in place and why this was not the fault of the applicant should be provided.
A copy of business insurance (that covers contents/fixtures & fitting). Where applicable, a copy of the Buildings Insurance Policy. Where available, evidence that the business sought, but was not able to obtain insurance cover for flooding of their premises. In the absence of supporting evidence, an explanation as to why flood insurance was not in place and why this was not the fault of the applicant should be provided.
The Enhanced Flood Support Scheme is being administered by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and all applications will be assessed by the Council against these criteria.
