Question:
To ask the Minister of Education what measures he will put in place to improve the level of compliance with the Addressing Bullying in Schools (Northern Ireland) Act 2016.

Answer:

The Department funds the Addressing Bullying in Schools Implementation Team (ABSIT) within the Education Authority (EA). ABSIT support schools to successfully implement the Act.

The Department plans to complete a new research study in order to gather up to date data on the nature and prevalence of bullying type behaviour and to baseline the impact of the Act in all schools. The Department will commission this research in the forthcoming financial year, dependent on the availability of funding.
