To ask the Minister of Health whether analysis has been carried out on the cost of treating people in the health system due to not having been diagnosed with autism or ADHD within a reasonable time period.

Answer:

An analysis of the cost of treating people in the health system has not been carried out. Characteristics of autism and ADHD present in individualised ways, therefore given the differing care pathways and the need for individualised sources of support, this would be an extremely difficult analysis to undertake and would be unlikely to provide an accurate estimate of cost.
