Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure what action his Department has taken to improve road safety on Belfast Road, Holywood.

Answer:
In November 2022 and September 2023, the Divisional team completed reviews of the existing engineering measures on the Belfast Road, Holywood which concluded that the existing arrangements on this location complied with current policy guidelines and did not identify any further road safety improvements that would bring further road safety benefits to the area.
All requests for improvements to the road network, including road improvement schemes, are assessed in line with my Department’s current policies and guidance and all works are subject to prioritisation within the funding available.
Details of the planned list of local transport and safety measures for the 2023/24 financial year are provided in the Department’s Annual Report for Ards and North Down which can be found at; https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/sites/default/files/publications/infrastructure/annual-report-ards-and-north-down-borough-council-2023.pdf
Local transport and safety measures programmed for 2024/25 will be prepared when budgets are confirmed and will be presented to Council in due course.
Issues relating to inconsiderate parking and/or speeding should be directed to the PSNI which has responsibility for enforcement relating to both matters.
