Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister whether they propose to bring forward any legislation arising from the Racial Equality Strategy 2015-2025.

Answer:

As part of the Racial Equality Strategy 2015-2025 a review of the current Race Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 has been progressed, including a 12-week public consultation on possible changes which ended in June 2023.

Responses and feedback from the consultation have been analysed and a report summarising the findings is under consideration. The report will inform the basis for any legislative changes and will move us a step closer to providing the best possible legal protection against racism and towards a more equal and safe society.
