Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy when he will review the premia payments to teacher training colleges.

Answer:

I recognise the important role of both St Mary’s University College and Stranmillis University College. It is clear that there are significant financial pressures facing all our higher education institutions and their current and prospective students.

I have asked my officials to update me on work to date on a potential review of Higher Education Funding, as well as proposals to take it forward. Any review of Higher Education Funding could give consideration to the issue of premia payments to University Colleges along with all other aspects of their funding.
