Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy whether he has any plans to align pay for further education lecturers with school teachers.

Answer:

Further Education lecturers’ pay, as well as the terms and conditions of employment, are matters for the Further Education colleges as employers. However, I am committed to improving pay for Further Education lecturers and regard this as a priority issue.

Following the concerns raised by Further Education lecturers regarding the announcement of the teachers’ pay agreement, I have asked my officials to explore the options for aligning further education lecturers pay with teachers.
