Question:
To ask the Minister of Education (i) what actions his Department has contributed to the first four interdepartmental homelessness action plans; and (ii) what actions his Department plans to include in the fifth Interdepartmental Homelessness Action Plan.

Answer:

My Department has contributed to the Interdepartmental Homelessness Action Plans by providing support to schools, children and young people, through resources provided to the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA).

CCEA’s resources are designed to align to key areas of the curriculum to enable them to be easily covered in the classroom. These include Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities, Wellbeing, Financial Education Guidance and Citizenship. CCEA also supports schools through resources that cover issues related to, or known to contribute to, homelessness.

DE’s support for this work via CCEA will continue despite the absence of a budget for Departments in respect of the Interdepartmental Homelessness Action Plans.
