Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure (i) whether his Department will review the effectiveness of the 20mph speed limit zones at schools; and (ii) when he will provide an update on new 20mph speed limit schemes.

Answer:
There have been two tranches of part time 20mph speed limits delivered, which introduced these measures at 215 schools, an investment of about £4m. A review is already underway to determine if a further tranche is justified. The findings of this review will be made public later this year.
One of the best ways to ensure the safety of our roads and fulfil our long-term goal of eliminating death and serious injury on roads by 2050 is by changing driver behaviour. If all of us who are drivers do not change our attitudes towards speeding and careless driving, our death toll, which has increased in the past year, will continue to increase.
