To ask the Minister of Education to detail the amount of funding provided for detached or street-based youth work in each of the last five years.
Answer:
The information provided below relates to specific funding opportunities that required a detached methodology from 2021 onwards. Prior to the funding scheme launch in 2021 there was no specific funding solely for detached or street based youth provision. As outlined in the response to AQW 9847/22-27, Local Area Based funding also provides flexibility to utilise an element of funding for detached/outreach work at the discretion of management committees. Since 2023/24, and reflecting feedback from the sector, area based funding opportunities no longer state detached youth or street based youthwork as a required methodology. Instead, the funding opportunity outlines the assessed need and providers determine their preferred response to address the local area need.
