To ask the Minister of Health how much funding is provided to train specialist nurses, which will help free up doctors.

Answer:

Post registration education is commissioned to ensure the Nursing and Midwifery workforce is adequately equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver safe and effective care and transformational change. It is not linked to a Doctor substitution model.

Numbers and costs vary from year to year depending on population health and service sustainability needs.
