Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure (i) when he will review proposed changes to the Taxi Operators Licensing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012; and (ii) what steps he will take to mitigate negative impacts on the taxi industry.

Answer:

There is no timetable for the proposed legislative change to the taxi regulations. I can advise that my officials are seeking further legal advice on this matter, and I will then consider next steps.

You will be aware that my Department is responsible for the regulation of the taxi industry, in relation to taxi driver, taxi operator and vehicle licencing. Other business related matters for the taxi industry such as VAT are outside the remit of my Department.
