To ask the Minister for Communities whether there are any plans to change the Housing Executive points system to include those who are survivors of historical institutional abuse.

Answer:

I acknowledge the trauma experienced by survivors of historical institutional abuse. The Housing Selection Scheme awards points based on housing need. Points are considered on the grounds of health and social well-being, including consideration of complex needs and any social, support and care needs that the applicant or any member of their household may have. Each case is considered on its own merit, based on the applicant’s housing needs under the provisions of the Scheme.
