To ask the Minister of Education for an update on efforts to provide classroom assistants with a fair pay deal.

Answer:

The Budget allocations provided for 2024-25 do not include a specific allocation for the Pay & Grading Review for classroom assistants and other support staff. However I, together with Executive colleagues, am committed to working collectively to find a resolution for these important workers.

The Executive has agreed to seek approval from the HM Treasury to reprofile some of the repurposed funds provided in the Executive restoration financial package for this purpose.
