To ask the Minister of Education, pursuant to AQW 5573/22-27, for an update on whether he intends to repeal Article 4 (1)(c) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.

Answer:

I will shortly be considering the outcome of the recent public consultation on the draft statutory guidance on the use of restrictive practices in educational settings. As part of my consideration, officials will provide briefing in relation to Article 4 (1)(c) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.

Once I have considered the outcome of the consultation, I will then determine the appropriate next steps in relation to Article 4 (1)(c).
