Question: To ask the Minister of Education how many of the required 1,000 additional Special Educational Needs and Disability places have been secured.
Answer:
There has been significant progress made in agreeing solutions with schools to meet the demand for special education provision through the creation of additional capacity in special schools and new specialist provision classes in mainstream schools (SPiMS). The position is fluid and changes daily as the flow of children through the assessment and review process is continual and as solutions for additional provision are scoped and agreed between the Education Authority (EA) and schools.
