Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail the date he became aware of the outcome of a building condition survey carried out in June 2023 by the Education Authority into Bright Sparks Preschool, Crawfordsburn.

Answer:

I accepted an invitation to visit Bright Sparks pre-school on Wednesday 1 May 2024.

During this visit, the Chairperson of Bright Sparks Management Committee referenced the condition survey which had been carried out on the modular unit where the pre-school provider was operating from.

However, I was also made aware that discussions had taken place with Education Authority representatives on Monday 29 April regarding the accommodation provision.

I understand that a further survey on the modular unit is to be undertaken this week by the Education Authority to identify urgent statutory remedial works required on the modular unit and that a further meeting is planned for 16 May to try and agree a resolution of the ongoing accommodation issues.
