Question:
To ask the Minister of Health, pursuant to AQW 7480/22-27, what is being done to maintain (i) the adult neuromuscular out-patient care service; and (ii) the continued uninterrupted provision of Risdiplam and the associated required services for eligible patients.

Answer:

My department is aware that the lead adult neuromuscular consultant left his post as at end March 2024.

My department has engaged with Health & Social Care Trusts and established an interim contingency arrangement to ensure continuity of care for the neuromuscular patient group, whilst a long -term solution is being sought.

The Health and Social Care Trusts, along with SPPG, will continue to work together to ensure care for those who need it. This includes access to Risdiplam for those patients currently accessing this treatment and the development of a long-term solution in respect of adult neuromuscular services.
