To ask the Minister for Communities for an update on the 2021 consultation on the Local Government Staff Commission.

Answer:

On 15 November 2021 the former Minister for Communities sought the views of stakeholders on whether there were any reasons that the Executive decision in 2014 to dissolve the Local Government Staff Commission should be reconsidered. However, due to the collapse of the Executive, a decision on whether the Local Government Staff Commission should be dissolved was not considered by the former Minister.

Any decision to dissolve the Local Government Staff Commission would need to be considered by the Executive due to its cross-cutting nature.
