To ask the Minister of Education when the number of children who were unable to secure a place in an integrated primary school in September 2023 will be published.

Answer:

The Department does not hold information on the allocation of school places. The allocation of school places is an operational function for the Education Authority.

As part of the accountability framework underlying delivery of the Integrated Education Strategy and Action Plan, the Department will however be publishing the percentage of children who obtain their 1st preference Integrated school compared to other sectors by phase. We consider this a more appropriate measure, as the numbers of children in each cohort will change with population trends.
