Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy (i) for her assessment of student accommodation availability in and around the Coleraine area; and (ii) to detail any plans she has to encourage the increase of this provision.

Answer:

I am aware of increasing challenges in relation to the availability of private student accommodation in Coleraine.

Ulster University has been working to implement mitigations where possible. Last year the University leased 184 bedspaces, located adjacent to the campus and in Portstewart, and intends extend this by a further 30 bedspaces for September 2024. The University continues to explore additional opportunities to increase provision of student accommodation in the Coleraine campus area.
