Question:
To ask the Minister of Health whether he will be engaging with the British Medical Association ahead of industrial action planned between 6 June and 8 June 2024.

Answer:

Unfortunately, I was unable to meet with representatives of the Junior Doctors’ Committee prior to their second 48-hour strike from 6 to 8 June.

I did however meet with representatives of the Junior Doctors’ Committee on 8 July to discuss their pay issues and have outlined my commitment to ongoing engagement.

I have also confirmed a meeting with the Chair of the BMA (NI) Council and the individual Committee Chairs on 23 July to discuss the pressures that the HSC will collectively face in 2024 and beyond.
