To ask the Minister of Health, given the savings that some Health and Social Care Trusts have made from the Travel Contribution Scheme pilot, whether he will now make the scheme central to the savings plans of those Health and Social Care Trusts that require it.

Answer:

The Travel Contribution Scheme for medical students in some Health and Social Care Trusts is at pilot stage. The Scheme will be subject to validation later this year. Until this validation is complete, it would not be appropriate to comment on any potential savings which may be realised through the Scheme.
