Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether he will provide a school crossing patrol on Abbey Road outside Millisle Primary School.

Answer:

The Education Authority (EA) is responsible for the operation of the School Crossing Patrol Scheme, which includes undertaking assessments of potential locations in line with Road Safety GB School Crossing Patrol Service Guidelines to determine if a crossing patrol should be introduced.

The EA has advised me that an assessment has been carried out at Abbey Road, outside Millisle Primary School, and that a review of that assessment was also undertaken and the scoring adjusted to take account of further information provided by the school in relation to a traffic incident which occurred in June. I am informed that the site at Abbey Road does not meet the minimum threshold criteria for the introduction of a School Crossing Patrol.
