Question:
To ask the Minister of Education what assurances he can provide to parents and pupils that the Deanby Centre will be operational by September 2024.

Answer:

The Education Authority (EA) is undertaking a programme of works in July and August at the site of the former Our Lady’s Primary School. Works include refurbishment of eight classrooms and corridors, the creation of sensory, therapy and hygiene rooms and external safeguarding works.

The recruitment process for all staff required for the Deanby Centre Special School for September 2024 is underway in line with the EA’s recruitment framework.
