Question:
To ask the Minister of Education for his assessment of the findings from the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee Integrated Education inquiry.

Answer:

I acknowledge the findings of the Inquiry and recognise the potential of integrated education in promoting mutual respect, cultural diversity and reconciliation.

My Department is committed to addressing the issues identified by the Committee and work is ongoing to ensure compliance with the Integrated Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2022.

Officials are currently working with sectoral partners to update the current Integrated Education Strategy.

My Department is addressing the complex issue of assessing and monitoring demand for integrated education by making use of available data and considering new ways to obtain more detailed information on localised demand. We will report back once this evidence has been gathered and analysed.
