To ask the Minister for Communities for an updated timeline for the demolition of the derelict Chestnut Place Flats, Banbridge.

Answer:

This issue is an operational matter for the Housing Executive.

I have sought the requested information from the Chief Executive, who has advised me as follows:

“The contract for this scheme was originally awarded in Sept 23 however the appointed contractor went into administration.

The contract has subsequently been retendered and is in the process of being assessed and expected to start late Autumn of 2024 subject to a successful tender appointment. The initial programme of works is scheduled for a 20-week period with works anticipated to complete by late Spring 2025.”
