Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail the engagement his Department has undertaken with school leaders in relation to schools assuming responsibility for the preparation of a child’s first transition plan under the new Special Educational Needs Framework.

Answer:

The responsibility for schools to prepare a child’s first transition plan is contained within the new draft Special Education Needs (SEN) regulations and the associated SEN Code of Practice. The documents were publicly consulted on between 30 September 2020 until 2 March 2021 and a number of schools submitted responses to both.
