Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail any engagement he has had with the Minister of Education in relation to enhancing employment rights for substitute teachers, including the provision of holiday and sick pay.

Answer:

Policy responsibility for teachers’ pay and conditions rests with the Department of Education and there is no role for my Department. However, I have launched a consultation on a Good Jobs Employment Rights Bill which closes on 30th September 2024 and would encourage teachers and their representatives to contribute to the consultation.
