To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail any consultation he has undertaken with the Minister of Education in relation to the employment rights of substitute teachers as part of the development of the Good Jobs Employment Rights Bill.

Answer:

In June 2024, I wrote to all Ministerial colleagues to advise of the launch of the Good Jobs Employment Rights Bill Consultation. The consultation is open until 30th September 2024. I encourage everyone, including those who have sector specific concerns about how proposals may affect them, or their industry, to respond to the consultation.

Terms and conditions of employment for substitute teachers are a matter for the employing authorities and the Department of Education.
